Livestock Processing Factory:
In Denmark, Sriwork has the most modern pig slaughterhouse
in the world. The robots enter the slaughterhouse. In
2005, Sriwork officially opened the most modern pig abattoir.
The plant has 900 workers and slaughter no less than 75,000
pigs per week in a two shift operation.

Sriwork's research institute
has created many of the robots at the new slaughterhouse
and there are many high level of innovation in the
machines. Further robots are being developed, and
in a few years the work on the dressing-line will
be completely automatic. Some of the robots have
also been sold to slaughterhouses abroad. The robots
increase efficiency and improve the yield at the
plants.
The working environment for the slaughterhouse staff
is improved. Heavy lifting, dangerous cutting and
uniform, repetitive working operations are taken
over by the robots. The stainless steel surfaces
of the robots can withstand hot water and steam,
and can thus be disinfected effectively. This improves
the general hygiene, as bacterial contamination
from carcass to carcass is reduced. The pigs are
also treated better.
They are kept in small groups coming from the same
pen. This is the case in the lairage, when they
are being driven towards the stunning equipment
and during stunning. In these small groups there
is no vocalisation or uproar. This results in improved
animal welfare and can also be measured on the meat
quality.
